Seeker Of Truth RE: Aaronic Priesthood

My search for the truth about Angel Ministry began when I received my call to Priest in the late 1980's after the big division of the church over “women in the priesthood”. About a year later, the first two calls came to our Stake, both as Priests. I was one of those two calls. I had heard of Angel Ministry for many years but really didn't understand what it meant. I began my search.

First, I asked everyone I could about it. What does it mean? Basically, all the answers were the same. Everyone said that “either they didn't really know” (and a lot of these were Priests) or they would say that if someone was sick and there were no Elders around, we could ask God to send angels to minister to that person.

That, I already knew. I had already an experience with that answer, before I was called, when my baby daughter was very ill while we were visiting in Wyoming and there was no one within hundreds of miles that could administer to her. Her temp was extremely high and she was very fretful and it was in the middle of the night. While I was crying with her, I believe it was Holy Spirit that said to ask for angels to come to comfort her. I did and within just a few minutes, she grew peaceful and her fever broke. She was healed. Later, I remembered this testimony and realized, you don't have to be in the priesthood to ask the Lord for an angel's help.

After a few years, I was attending the 1988 CCM Celebration at Graceland. I continued my quest to know the truth about angels with Aaronic Priesthood. By this time, I had asked Elders, High Priests, Evangelists, Bishops, and Apostles as well, and still had no answer that would satisfy my need to know.

And then, Paul Lucero came into my view and I followed him into a class that was just starting. The room was full, with many of us sitting along the wall on the floor. I was blessed to be sitting right beside Paul. (He did not know me at all, at that time.)

We had a short break during the class and I immediately turned to Paul and ask him my age-old question.

What does it mean to have the Keys to the Ministering of Angels spoken of in the scriptures? I explained what everyone always said. Angels can come and do it for us.

Paul was able to give me more information. He explained that we are able, as Aaronic Priesthood, to discern someone who was in need of angel ministry, say if we saw someone sitting in church for example. Our prayer for the angels would bring ministry to those people.

I knew that this was a piece of additional information that I needed but realized that was still not all I needed to know.

Two years later, Paul Lucero was part of our guest ministry team at CCM Celebration in Oklahoma. After one of the services, we were asked to join hands with two other people around us for prayer. After our prayer time, the third person walked off but the remaining person was Paul.

I asked him if he remembered our conversation about the Ministry of Angels and what he had said previously. He did, and right then began to speak under the influence of the Spirit as he quoted that day in the past, and that the Lord would have him tell me more.

The Lord through Paul, told me this: If we took that same person in need that Paul had mentioned to me previously, we can call on the power and authority of Jesus, for us to go to that person, to minister to them as an angel would minister to him/her. THAT WAS WHAT I HAD BEEN WAITING TO HEAR. I was excited to have a direct word from God explaining what I needed to hear. I was excited to finally know what my purpose was as a priest with Keys to Angelic Ministry!

Aaronic priesthood members are to be like an angel, to do the work of an angel, for the blessing of others. Keys to the Ministry of Angels.

I immediately had some flash back memories of experiences when exactly that had happened, even though at the time I was unaware of the authority through Jesus to reach out to those persons.

May the Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ bless you each as you read and/or hear my testimony and may it witness to you this truth that was shared with me over thirty years ago. (When Aaronic Priesthood is not available, sometimes Melchizedek priesthood can be called to do this, in addition to administration, when Aaronic ministry is needed.)
